MASTER OF ARTS IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

    

An advanced level graduate program for civil servants who are middle and upper level management types without this credential.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 48 semester/72 quarter credits
  2. Critical Analysis, Annotated Bibliography, Proposal and Thesis
  3. At least 80% completion of designated program for graduation.
  4. 25%-50% from core curriculum

PREREQUISITES:

An bachelor degree or the equivalent in the same, or in a related area, plus considerable working experience.

  1. Course Objectives: Student will exhibit knowledge and understanding of legal concepts affecting the administrative law process.

  2. Course Description: Special attention given to the impact of appellate court review of administrative decison, also the doctrine of separation of powers, legislative delegation of power, administrative investigations, varieties of administrative law, rule making, administrative discretion, adjudication, public control over government agencies.

  1. Course Objectives: Student will be able to manage legal, social, economic and political nature of governmental budgets and the budgetary process.

  2. Course Description: Theories and social consequences of budget decison-making and practices of budget conrol are analyzed and evaluated in light of evidence, from recent studies of the budgetary process at all levels of government.
